L’edizione 2019 del Fotogramma d’Oro Short Film Festival, in programma a Messina dal 22 al 25 maggio 2019 presso il Cinema Multisala Apollo, tra le novità prevede il Fotogramma d’Oro Trinakrios che sarà assegnato dalla Giuria al migliore cortometraggio girato in Sicilia da autore nato in Sicilia e/o che vive ed opera nell’Isola.
Quest’altro premio ufficiale si aggiunge ai consueti Fotogramma d’Oro, Fotogramma d’Argento e Fotogramma di Bronzo e al Fotogramma d’Oro Campus.
Il direttivo della Federazione Nazionale Cinevideoautori, in accordo con la Direzione artistica del Festival, introducendo il terzo Fotogramma d’Oro, vuole dare risalto agli autori siciliani che con le loro opere valorizzano il territorio natio.
E’ infatti incontrovertibile quanti registi ormai giunti ad altissimi livelli artistici hanno avuto i natali in Sicilia: si pensi al Premio Oscar Giuseppe Tornatore, a Pasquale Scimeca, Aurelio Grimaldi, Roberto Andò, Marco Amenta, Luca Guadagnino, Daniele Ciprì e Franco Maresco, ed ancora Roberta Torre, siciliana di adozione, Emanuele Crialese, figlio di genitori siciliani, ai registi messinesi Francesco Calogero, Massimo Coglitore, Christian Bisceglia ed a quanti altri, invece, hanno ambientato le loro opere sul territorio siciliano.
Molti di loro hanno scelto di lasciare la Sicilia per motivi che non conosciamo, forse ascoltando le parole di Alfredo (Philippe Noiret) rivolte a Salvatore in “Nuovo Cinema Paradiso”, «Vattinni! Chista è terra maligna».

Un’isola che, come una sirena, attrae con il suo fascino ma, al tempo stesso, respinge.
Sappiamo solo che nelle proprie opere, chi più chi meno, ha voluto valorizzare la cultura, le tradizioni, i luoghi, i riti siciliani.
Per questo motivo, nell’edizione 2019 del Festival, è stato deciso di introdurre il Fotogramma d’Oro Trinakrios, la cui denominazione nasce parafrasando le ormai fin troppo utilizzate espressioni alternative a Trinacria.
Il nuovo premio intende essere quindi un riconoscimento al lavoro di un artista siciliano, di origine o di adozione, il quale ambientando il proprio film in Sicilia contribuisce a far conoscere alcuni aspetti, anche sconosciuti ed inediti, della sua Terra.

Ci auguriamo quindi una vasta partecipazione di autori siciliani, così da favorire una leale competizione tra coloro che amano mettersi in gioco, confrontarsi, condividere idee e progetti ed accettare con umiltà il risultato finale.
La scadenza per l’iscrizione e l’invio delle opere è fissata per lunedì 4 febbraio 2019.La 51.ma edizione del Fotogramma d’Oro Short Film Festival sarà dedicata alla memoria dell’attore messinese Adolfo Celi (nella foto sopra).

The 2019 edition of the Fotogramma d’Oro Short Film Festival, scheduled in Messina from 22 to 25 May 2019 at the Cinema Multisala Apollo, among the new features includes the  Fotogramma d’Oro Trinakrios that will be awarded by the Jury to the best short film shot in Sicily by an author born in Sicily and / or who lives and works in the island.
This other official prize is added to the usual Fotogramma d’Oro, Fotogramma d’Argento e Fotogramma di Bronzo e al Fotogramma d’Oro Campus.
The director of the Federazione Nationale Cinevideoautori, in agreement with the artistic direction of the Festival, introducing the third Fotogramma d’Oro, wants to give prominence to the Sicilian authors who with their works enhance the native territory.
It is indeed incontrovertible that many directors who reached very high artistic levels have had their birthplace in Sicily: the Oscar winner Giuseppe Tornatore, Salvatore Scimeca, Aurelio Grimaldi, Roberto Andò, Marco Amenta, Luca Guadagnino, Daniele Ciprì and Franco Maresco, and Roberta Torre, Sicilian by adoption, Emanuele Crialese, son of Sicilian parents, to the Messina’s directors Francesco Calogero, Massimo Coglitore, Christian Bisceglia and to all the others, instead, set their works on the Sicilian territory.

Many of them have chosen to leave Sicily for reasons that we don’t know, perhaps listening to the words of Alfredo (Philippe Noiret) addressed to Salvatore in “Nuovo Cinema Paradiso”, “Go away! This is malignant earth ».

An island that, like a siren, attracts with its charm but, at the same time, rejects.
We only know that in their works, more or less, they wanted to enhance the culture, traditions, places and Sicilian rites.
For this reason, in the 2019 edition of the Festival, it was decided to introduce the Fotogramma d’Oro Trinakrios, whose name was created to paraphrase the now over-used alternatives to Trinacria.
The new award intends therefore to be a recognition to a work of a Sicilian director, of origin or adoption, who, by setting his own film in Sicily, helps to make known some aspects, even unknown and unpublished, of his Earth.
We therefore hope for a wide participation of Sicilian authors, so as to favor a fair competition among those who love to get involved, confront each other, share ideas and projects and accept the final result with humility.
The deadline for registration and submission of works is set for Monday, February 4, 2019.

Con un po’ di ritardo, ma con grande soddisfazione per i suoi contenuti, pubblichiamo il catalogo della 50esima edizione del Fotogramma d’Oro Short Film Festival 2018.
Questo catalogo, in formato elettronico, costituisce il risultato del lavoro che una piccola squadra di volontari appassionati di cinema, di quello breve in particolare, ha svolto per fornire agli spettatori e ai cinefili informazioni necessarie per la fruizione degli eventi programmati all’interno del Festival.

Il catalogo contiene le schede delle 90 su 244 opere che hanno superato la pre-selezione, nonché quelle relative alla retrospettiva e quelle fuori concorso.
L’edizione 2018, la terza messinese, ha ospitato anche numerosi ed interessanti Eventi Speciali.
In prosecuzione della consuetudine ormai consolidata di dedicare il Festival ad un personaggio della cultura messinese ormai scomparso, l’edizione 2018 è stata dedicata all’attore e regista messinese Tano Cimarosa, nel decimo anniversario della sua scomparsa. Le edizioni 2016 e 2017 sono state dedicate, rispettivamente, al prof. Giuseppe Cavarra (scomparso nel 2012) e alla poetessa Maria Costa, che ci ha lasciati nel 2016.
Secondo Evento Speciale è stato la retrospettiva dedicata al regista bolognese Mauro Mingardi. Nel catalogo abbiamo riportato le schede dei corti che sono stati proiettati nel corso del Festival selezionati da Marzia Toscano la quale, insieme a Davide Rizzo, ha realizzato un documentario biografico su Mingardi intitolato “Un western senza cavalli”, anche quest’ultimo è stato proiettato durante il Festival.
Altro Evento Speciale è stato il Premio alla carriera assegnato all’attore messinese Maurizio Marchetti, il quale, oltre ad essere l’Ospite d’Onore dell’edizione odierna del Festival, è stato il presidente della Giuria. L’evento è stato organizzato nell’ambito dei festeggiamenti per il 60esimo anniversario della fondazione della Federazione.
“FOTOGRAMMI – Mostra pittorica e grafica ispirata a locandine di film” è l’altro evento speciale del Festival caratterizzato per la sua originalità. Alla mostra, allestita nei locali espositivi del Cinema Multisala Apollo, hanno aderito numerosi artisti messinesi che hanno contribuito con le loro opere a dare valore e prestigio alla mostra stessa.
Per finire, una Giuria composta da studenti che frequentano i corsi di laurea afferenti al Dipartimento di Scienze Cognitive, Psicologiche, Pedagogiche e degli Studi Culturali dell’Ateneo di Messina, nei giorni in cui si è svolto il Festival, hanno valutato le opere in concorso ed hanno assegnato, a quella giudicata da loro meritevole, il Premio Speciale “Fotogramma d’Oro Campus” (nella foto in alto).

Fotogramma d’Oro Short Film Festival -2018 – 50th Edition Catalog

With a little delay, but with great satisfaction for its contents, we publish the catalog of the 50th edition of the Fotogramma Short Film Festival 2018.
This catalog, in electronic format, is the result of the work that a small team of volunteers passionate about short film in particular, has done to provide viewers and cinephiles with information necessary for the use of events scheduled within the Festival .
The catalog contains the cards of the 90 out of 244 short film that have passed the pre-selection, as well as those relating to the retrospective and those out of competition.
The 2018 edition, the third Messina, has also hosted numerous and interesting Special Events.
In continuation of the established tradition of dedicating the Festival to a character of the culture of Messina now gone, the 2018 edition was dedicated to the actor and director of Messina Tano Cimarosa, on the tenth anniversary of his death. The 2016 and 2017 editions were dedicated, respectively, to prof. Giuseppe Cavarra (who died in 2012) and the poet Maria Costa, who left us in 2016.

The second Special Event was the retrospective dedicated to Mauro Mingardi. In the catalog we have reported the cards of the shorts that were shown during the Festival selected by Marzia Toscano who, together with Davide Rizzo, made a biographical documentary on Mingardi entitled “A Western without horses”, the latter was also projected during the Festival.
Other Special Event was the Premio alla Carriera assigned to the Messina actor Maurizio Marchetti, who, besides being the Guest of 2018 edition of the Festival, was the president of the Jury. The event was organized as part of the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Federazione Nazionale Cinevideoautori.

“FOTOGRAMMI – Mostra pittorica e grafica ispirata a locandine di film”  is the other Special event of the Festival characterized for its originality. At the exhibition, set up at Cinema Multisala Apollo, seat of the Festival, have joined many artists from Messina who have contributed with their works to give value and prestige to the exhibition itself.
Finally, a jury composed of students attending the degree courses belonging to the Department of Cognitive, Psychological, Pedagogical and Cultural Studies of the University of Messina, in the days when the Festival was held, evaluated the shot films in competition and assigned to the one judged by them deserving, the Special Prize “Fotogramma d’Oro Campus” (pictured above).
